Samba
Originating in Brazil at the beginning of the 20th century the samba is characterised by its unique downward bouncing or dropping action. As the samba is the only Latin dance to travel across dance floor, it is sometimes referred to as the ‘Latin waltz’.

Mambo
A close relative of the popular salsa, the mambo can also be traced back to Cuba. Unlike any other dance the Mambo starts on the ‘2’ count, with the ‘1’ count being a pause or a hold. This unique timing gives the mambo a clicky or snappy Latin look.

Rock n roll and swing
Although the basic footwork for the Swing and Rock N Roll differ slightly, a majority of the moves are exactly the same. They can be danced to a huge range of music, both new and old, ranging form Elvis or the Beach Boys to Jet or the Red Hot Chili Peppers. With their spins and flashy moves the swing and rock ‘n roll are the perfect dances to have in your repertoire when attending any party or any venue with a juke box or live band.

Foxtrot
Dating back to the early 1900s , Foxtrot is a dance that has stood the test of time, and with good reason. Being that you can dance foxtrot to big band, pop and some more alternative music it is one of the most commonly used and versatile styles of dancing. The foxtrot gets you sweeping and gliding across the floor and is the perfect dance for any formal occasion such as weddings, dinner dances and work functions.

Waltz
There is no other dance that rivals the waltz for its grace and fluidity. For years it has been the chosen style for many newlyweds’ first dance or wedding waltz as it is elegant and romantic.

Tango
While the origin of the tango is still being debated, a popular theory is that it began in Buenos Aires in the late 19th century. In recent times the tango has re-emerged as one of the most popular ballroom dances, partly due to famous tango scenes in movies such as ‘True Lies’, Shall We Dance’ and ‘Take the Lead’. A strong and dramatic dance, the tango is sure to draw a crowd.
