With yet another mid-week Latin night opening up we really are spoilt for choice. Enter ‘Taboo Thursdays’ at Cafe Piatto, Rundle Street.
Taboo Thursdays boasts;

Taboo Thursdays is the brainchild of Adelaide born DJ Freddy. DJ Freddy says that he was keen to start up another Latin night in Adelaide on Thursdays that was more heavily salsa/bachata based.
“There are other great Latin nights on a Thursday like The Jungle but they tend to play a bit more Kizomba so this gives other options”
It also gives him a chance to put his own spin on the music.
“I guess I’ve always been heavily into this kind of authentic cuban/dominican urban Latin stuff, probably because of my Nicaraguan heritage.”
The music is fantastic and I found it refreshing to go to a Latin night and hear all new music that I had never danced to before 🙂
Cafe Piatto serves up flavoursome Italian fare 7days a week from 10am to 10pm. Why not add it to your list of dinner and dance options? Thursdays nights enjoy some pizza or pasta before hitting the dance floor for some salsa!
It’s not just the food that will have you returning each week, but the drink specials too! $5 base spirits and house wines means there is no excuse to not have a few cheeky drinks… even on a ‘school night’. 😉
The Cafe may not be the same place you remember… Just 4 months ago Piatto underwent a facelift and is now feeling fresh and modern. There is plenty of seating at the front of the cafe and around the bar so you can rest your feet whenever you need to.
On Thursdays, once the diners have cleared out, DJ Freddy settles in at the back of the cafe and the bar team start getting ready for the dancers to arrive between 9:30 and 10pm.
The dance floor is a freshly laid wood look laminate making it the perfect texture to dance on. Not too grippy and not too slippy.
Dancers were wearing all sorts of footwear from Latin heels to converse. Anything goes!
I will certainly be returning to Taboo in the future and encouraging our QuickSteps members to do the same.
