What is Dance With Me Friday?
Dance with me Friday is a free weekly event held in the QuickSteps main ballroom and bar every Friday night from 8:30 pm to 9:15 pm.
Here’s a video showing you what Dance With Me Friday looks like. Bryx and Sarah are dancing a West Coast Swing!

Why did we create Dance With Me Friday? We created this to provide a beginner-friendly social event that encourages beginners to get out there and use what they are learning!
The bar is often full of people chatting and mingling during DWMF, too!
We received feedback from beginner dancers that heading along to their first official Dance Party (link) was overwhelming. Some attended a Dance Party but left halfway through because the crowd felt overwhelming. Others avoided going altogether because they felt too nervous to show up.
- Dance Parties run for 2 hours, and this was too long for beginners. It is only 45 minutes, so it’s short and sweet!
- Dance Parties had too many people! Dance with Me Friday generally only attracts between 50 and 60 people and is run as a much smaller event. This is in direct comparison with 80-120 people at a typical Dance Party. It can be difficult for beginners to secure a dance with teachers at these larger events. At Dance with Me Friday, we have 4-5 teachers there to get you up and dancing and to introduce you to other beginner dancers, too.
- At Dance Parties, we didn’t know which song matched which style of dance?! Well, we’ve made this super easy now! The teachers that are at Dance with Me Friday call out the style of dance you can do. For example, Happy By Pharrell will start playing and you will hear 4 teachers call out “Rock n roll!’ as everyone starts to fill the dance floor.

Which styles of dance are featured at Dance With Me Friday?
We use a carefully curated playlist that features Rumba, Cha Cha, Swing, Rock’ n Roll, Waltz, Tango, and Line Dance. We teach all of these beginner-friendly styles in our Level 1 and 2 classes at the studio.
Here’s a little clip of the DWMF crew enjoying a Line Dance.
No Salsa or Bachata at Dance with Me Friday
You may notice that we did not list Salsa and Bachata. We skip salsa and bachata at Dance With Me Friday because Adelaide already offers plenty of social dancing in those styles—and Bailamos kicks off at 9:15 pm right after! Baliamos is our free weekly Salsa/Bachata night with DJs. Find out more about Baialmos here – https://www.quicksteps.com.au/events/bailamos/
