Ideally learn this step before the Upgraded Underarm Turn.
We will be using this step pattern in our Rumba for years to come to get into all sorts of moves such as;
The whole Aida Family in Level 3 Rumba
You will also come across the Cross Body Lead in many styles of dance such as Salsa and Cha Cha.
The Leader’s Steps
In this video we are referring to the leader’s steps when we describe the gentlemen’s steps.
Practise your Ballroom Rotations from our Excercise Series before attempting this step. It is important that we are twisting nicely through the waist.
Allow your left palm to separate from the followers whilst the fingers remain conncected on step 4 and don’t let those elbows drop! Remember, frame up as if you are holding a beach ball!
Ensure your side together action on step 5 and 6 is exactly that- a side together. Many people tend to get into the habit of missing this side step and it takes away the feel of the step. By maintaining a side together action you will be moving down the floor with your follower.
The Follower’s Steps
In this video we are referring to the follower’s steps when we describe the lady’s steps.
Walk straight past the leader on steps 4-6, only turning back to face them at the last momet, this will give the step some flare and feel.
Don’t drop those elbows!
