Meet Roi, a passionate dance instructor at QuickSteps Dance Club.
Roi is a passionate dance instructor whose love for movement began in the Philippines and grew into a lifelong journey through Dancesport, competitive dancing, and teaching. From his early performances in Cebu to becoming a South Australian Dancesport champion and a valued instructor at QuickSteps Dance Club in Adelaide teaching Latin Ballroom, Ballroom and Street Latin – Roi brings experience, enthusiasm, and a genuine love of dance to every lesson.
Dance has always been more than a hobby – it’s been a lifelong passion. His family often jokes that his love for movement began before he was even born. Growing up in Cebu, Philippines, he took his first dance steps in hip hop alongside his cousin and soon found himself performing at local fiestas, where his passion for entertaining others truly came to life.
In 2003, Roi’s father introduced him to the world of Dancesport, and it was a turning point that shaped his future. Captivated by the discipline, artistry, and excitement of competitive dance, he dedicated himself to training, competing, and eventually teaching.
Over the years, he has built extensive experience in both Dancesport and social dancing, helping dancers of all levels discover confidence, skill, and a genuine love for dance.
In February 2018, Roi moved to Adelaide, South Australia, where he joined the team at QuickSteps Dance Club. Since then, he has been teaching a variety of styles, including Latin Ballroom, Ballroom, and Street Latin. Known for his positive energy, patience, and encouraging teaching style, he creates an enjoyable learning environment where every student feels welcome—from complete beginners to experienced competitors.
His commitment to excellence has also been recognised on the competition floor, earning the title of South Australia’s No. 1 Dancesport competitor from March to November 2021.
