Support at Home
If you receive aged care support at home, your Support at Home funding may be able to help you enjoy regular dance activities at QuickSteps. We work with your provider and discuss pricing with each person individually and in confidence.
Why dance?
- Balance and steadiness. Dancing practises shifting weight, turning and stepping with control, which can help with balance and confidence on your feet.
- Staying connected. Coming into the studio each week means friendly faces, conversation and something to look forward to.
- Keeping the mind active. Remembering steps and following the music is gentle exercise for memory and concentration.
- Moving at your own pace. Every lesson is shaped around how you feel on the day. You can rest whenever you like.
- Joy. Music you love and the feeling of dancing again. Many of our students danced when they were younger and love coming back to it.
What to expect
- No experience is needed, and you don’t need a partner: your teacher dances with you.
- Lessons are private and one on one, adjusted to your mobility and energy.
- A family member or carer is welcome to come along.
- After each lesson we can email a short report to family members or your care partner, so everyone knows how you’re going.
- Please note: our studio is up one flight of stairs, and there is no lift at the moment.
Daytime group classes
QuickSteps runs the most daytime dance classes in Adelaide. When you feel ready, your teacher can help you join a daytime group class: a lovely way to meet people and enjoy dancing with others.
Getting Started
1. Get in touch. Tell us a little about yourself and what you’d enjoy. We’ll talk you through pricing.
2. Talk to your Support at Home provider. We’re happy to speak with your care partner or case manager directly.
3. We agree the details in writing with you and your provider.
4. We book a regular weekly time for you.
5. Please give us 72 hours’ notice to cancel, unless we agree otherwise. Your teacher’s time is set aside just for you.
6. We invoice your provider directly, so there’s nothing for you to handle.
