Step in Line: Discover the Fun of Line Dance in Adelaide

Line Dance Classes At QuickSteps

Every Friday, 7:45 pm-8:30 pm

Line Dancing in Adelaide is back, folks!

Thanks to artists like Beyonce, Post Malone, and Miley Cyrus, country music is back with vengeance, and line dancing is being brought to the forefront yet again. And we at QuickSteps are so here for it!

Step in Line: Discover the Fun of Line Dance in Adelaide

Luke runs our line dance classes (open to all levels, beginner to advanced) every Friday night from 7:45 pm-8:30 pm. He starts each class with a fun and easy ‘follow-along’ style line dance. These ‘follow-alongs’ are easy enough for most people to pick up as they go and generally only have 3-4 step patterns repeated throughout the song. This gets everyone moving (and sweating!) and ready to leave the work week behind and dance!

This is Luke! Always smiling 🙂

Once everyone is warmed up, he’ll start teaching the line dance he has selected for that week. He starts by slowly showing each element of the dance one at a time, giving students enough time to learn the move and make it feel comfortable before moving on. Then, he slowly adds the next step and then joins them together before trying it with music. He teaches the class by slowly layering each step until everyone learns the full routine and can dance it confidently at full speed with music. If Luke has time, he likes to go back to particular step patterns and movements and add ‘styling’ options. Often, students ask what they should be doing with their hands so we like to give them some ideas. Remember; great line dancers dance with their whole body, not just their feet!

What do people in Adelaide wear to this line dance class? Well, it’s a real mix! We have some people coming to class straight from work, so they are still in their office gear or uniform. Some are doing line dancing for fitness, so they are in gym gear. Others are doing a fun class with friends before heading out to dinner on Gouger St, so they are a little more dressed up. Lately, we have found that the regulars are starting to get into the spirit of the class with boots and hats, which we think makes it way more fun! Yeehaw!

The fun doesn’t end there. Every Friday at 8:30 pm, we run our beginner-friendly social dance night called Dance With Me Friday, and this is the perfect environment to show off your line dancing. Luke escorts the line dance class upstairs, where they head to the bar for a well-deserved drink and stick around for the event. We play at least 2x Line Dances that the class has just learnt, so you have an opportunity to put it all into practice on a real, live social dance floor.

So you think line dancing sounds like fun, but how do you get started? Well, it’s pretty easy! We want everyone in Adelaide to try line dancing at least once, so your first class is free to try! Click on this link to book in.

Dust off your boots and we’ll see you there!
