This Aida is the basic step pattern. Later you will learn variations of this step where you add different exits, make sure you are comfortable with this basic version first.

The Aida starts with a Cross Body Lead from Level 2 Rumba

Then leaders, you will turn on your side to match the follower. The aim is to transition to a side by side position so you can back rock together.

The timing of the Aida is special. Take note of the change in timing after the side by side back rock. The timing is Quick, Quick (back rock), AND, slow. You are both stepping forward on the ‘and’ count with the fan action being on the ‘slow’. It makes the move snappy and adds light and shade into your dancing.
