Turning Basic

Turning Basic

Tip: Start this Rock ‘n Roll Turning Basic with a small amount of turn and slowly increase it as you become more comfortable with the step pattern.

Once it is comfortable you can turn more than 180 degrees with each rotation! This gives your Rock ‘n Roll lots of energy and momentum.

You will also be able to use this Turning Basic step to give you a boost of momentum to get into other moves with ease such as the Taps and Kicks in Level 2.

The Leader’s Steps

The Follower’s Steps

In this video we are referring to the leader’s steps when we describe the gentlemen’s steps.

Followers need to be able to ‘dance into the palm’ to maintain contact and connection with their partner during this Turning Basic. (video to come! but in the meantime please ask your teacher about this important fundamental)
